Raku Obvara

Obvara is a medieval process believed to have originated in Eastern Europe. It was used to seal low fired cookware. Today, contemporary artists are experimenting with this process to creating interesting coloration and surface patterns as a means of artistic expression. The mixture for Obvara is flour, yeast and water mixed three days before using in the firing process.
